Why I Love the Candy Cane Inn – And Why You Will Too

ree

There are plenty of hotels near Disneyland Resort, but few have captured my heart quite like the Candy Cane Inn. I have a soft spot for nostalgia, and this property is a beautiful blend of Disneyland history and modern comfort. I’ve stayed here multiple times over the years, and it’s also been a favorite for many of my clients. Every time I walk through those doors, I’m reminded why this charming little spot stands out from the rest.

A Classic with a Story

The Candy Cane Inn first opened on December 25, 1957, just two years after Disneyland welcomed its first guests. Originally, it was almost called the Cinderella Motel, but Walt Disney himself turned down the name. The owners quickly pivoted to “Candy Cane,” which couldn’t be more perfect—playful, family-friendly, and unforgettable.

Over the decades, it has kept its nostalgic mid-century charm while updating the rooms and amenities to keep guests comfortable. It’s one of the very last of Anaheim’s original motels from Disneyland’s early days—and it’s still family-owned.

Why It’s One of My Favorites

  • Location, Location, Location – Less than half a mile (about 250 yards) from Disneyland’s entrance.

  • Private Shuttle – Even though it’s walkable, it’s nice to have the option to ride, especially after a long park day.

  • Amazing Breakfast – Honestly one of the best complimentary breakfasts in the area—perfect for fueling up before hitting the parks.

  • Warm Hospitality – The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which makes every stay feel special.

A Disney Good Neighbor Hotel

The Candy Cane Inn is an official Disney Good Neighbor Hotel, which means it can be booked as part of an official Disneyland Resort package. This gives you the convenience of bundling your hotel stay with theme park tickets, plus the peace of mind of Disney’s flexible booking and cancellation policies. I can also help you add extras like Lightning Lane, dining reservations, and book tours (VIP anyone?) so that your trip is completely tailored to your family.

Let’s Plan Your Stay

If you’re looking for a Disneyland-area hotel with history, character, and comfort, the Candy Cane Inn is a fantastic choice—and I’d love to help you book it as part of your Disneyland vacation package.

Because it’s a smaller property and a guest favorite, rooms do fill up quickly—especially during busy seasons. Let’s secure your spot early so you can look forward to the magic without the stress.

I’ll also be sharing more of my favorite Disneyland-area Good Neighbor Hotels in future posts, so you can find the one that’s just right for your family. But the Candy Cane Inn will always have a special place in my heart for its history, charm, and that irresistible touch of nostalgia.
